When I was growing up, strategy games was one of the most played genre for me on the PC Console. Lords of the Realm II was one of my favorite games for the PC in terms of turn-based strategy games! I long yearn for a re-make of this game, or at least update graphics - like what Square Soft does with its Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts - make it HD!!!

Lords of the Realm II had a very realistic feeling to the game. There was no magic and unlike many strategy games at the time, there was no technology. It was a very social game where you had to rely on your own talents as a "Lord." You would have to micromanage your food rations, population, and the citizens happy level.

Since this game included turn based resource management, you as the player had to concern yourself with the countries crop growth, accumulating the correct resources to build a awesome sauce army, create medieval weaponry such as pitch forks, swords, pole arms, and manage your own army.

Once you have acquired enough resources and your army is ready to get some action, you then siege to your enemies castles. During the siege phase, you would enter into a different map style which would populate your own army as you have built it and the enemies castles. A enemy castle could have a moat built around it, or if the castle was cheap, you could just simply invade the enemies castle by brute force! However, if the castle did have a moat surrounding it, you would then have to use your army to build structural land to cross the moat. This would allow the enemy to shoot raining fire arrows of death to disseminate your preciously built army.

The original Lords of the Realm I had the same concept as Lords of the Realm II. Lords of the Realm II compared to its predecessor had a much more robust system. It has had better graphics, music, and a management system, but keeping the same storyline and feeling as the first Lords of the Realm I.

This game was a hit! You have to try it if you like turn-based strategy games. You can still find this game online and roughly sells for 5-10 dollars as a downloadable game. If you have VMware workstation, you can simply create a virtual machine and image a Windows 95 OS on it.  Cheers my friends!!
